Frequently asked

About dot grid paper.

What is dot-grid paper?

Dot-grid paper places small, evenly spaced dots at grid intersections. The dots provide alignment guides without the visual weight of full graph-paper lines.

What dot spacing is best for bullet journaling?

A 5 mm dot grid is the most familiar starting point for bullet journals. Use 4 mm for compact layouts or 6 mm and above for larger handwriting.

Is 5mm the standard dot-grid size?

There is no required standard, but 5 mm is the most common spacing used by popular dotted notebooks and bullet journals.

What is the difference between dot paper and graph paper?

Dot paper marks only the intersections, creating a lighter page. Graph paper draws full horizontal and vertical lines, which can be easier for precise plots and measurements.

Can I customize the dot size and color?

Yes. You can change the dot diameter, ink color, opacity, round or square shape, and paper background color.

Can I create 4mm, 5mm or 6mm dot grids?

Yes. Enter any dot spacing from 2–25 mm, including 4 mm, 5 mm, or 6 mm.

Does the generator support A4, A5 and US Letter?

Yes. A4, A5, and US Letter are included, together with several other standard and custom page sizes.

Can I download the dot grid as a PDF?

Yes. Download a printable dot-grid PDF, an editable SVG, or a high-resolution PNG.

Will the dots remain sharp when printed?

PDF and SVG preserve clean output at any supported page size. Print at 100% or Actual Size to keep the intended spacing.

How much margin should I leave for hole punching or binding?

A 12–20 mm binding margin works for many notebooks, but the right value depends on the binding system. Print a test page before preparing a full set.
